A RARE LONGQUAN ‘MOON-WHITE’ GLAZED WASHER

SOUTHERN SONG (1127-1279)

The washer is finely potted with an angular profile rising from the short foot to a slightly everted rim and is covered overall with a pale bluish-green glaze, with the exception of the foot rim which expose the dark body.

12.6 cm. (5 in.) diam.

Longquan ware in Southern Song dynasty with a dark body were usually considered to be imitating the Guan ware of its contemporary.
